Sorensen Family / Decatur, IL Photographer

I loved meeting Kathy Sorensen and Jennifer Raleigh at Donny’s for their planning meeting back in July.  We got to know each other and talked about all the details of their upcoming portrait session.  Erika (Sorensen) Smith and her husband Sam with two children Wally (2) and Beatrice (1) were flying in from Colorado to visit and they wanted to take this opportunity to update their family portraits.  They came up with the idea of photographing at Millikin in the Quad.  Other than the weather being hot and humid and poor Wally not feeling well we were able to capture some wonderful images.  A week later I enjoyed seeing them again for their ordering session and another week later their order is ready to be picked up and displayed!  I love creating art for families to enjoy, they decided to go with metal prints for their wall/easel and they turned out gorgeous.  I can’t wait for them to see them!  Here are just a few favorites from their session.  Enjoy!

I am now booking for fall 2016, email me today (hello@juliescheuler.com) to book your session today!

Andreana + Delano / Decatur, IL Photographer

Meet one of my best friends Andreana and her son Delano!  Aren’t they beautiful?  Every year they come visit us and I take Delano’s pictures.  This year she asked me to create some wall art for her.  I was so excited and even talked her into getting into the pictures.  She has declined for the past three years.  We had so much fun during their portrait session and I love how the images turned out.  Even their pup Dino was photogenic!

Silva Family | Decatur, IL Family Photographer

This summer I have been busy getting to know clients ahead of our portrait session.  I love taking the extra time to do this because it really helps me offer the best experience possible.  We talk about clothing, locations, and which wall art products will look the best with their furniture, wall color, etc.  These planning meetings are usually held at a convenient place like Starbucks, Panera, or last week we met at Donny’s.  They would probably take about 30 minutes, but we usually have fun talking and getting to know each other so I plan for about an hour.  The Silva’s are here from Brazil with ADM, they were such great people to be around!  Giana’s mom was visiting for several weeks which made the portrait session even more special.  This was their first and only family picture.  We photographed on a Sunday evening, had their ordering session the following Saturday and 6 days later they had their order in their hands and ready to hang.  From their portrait session to the time they picked up their products the process took less than two weeks.  Now they have a beautiful gallery canvas displayed in their home to enjoy.  Depending on the products ordered, this may take longer but I always aim for a quick turnaround.

The Silva’s took a picture of their bedroom and sent it to me before their ordering session, we were then able to figure out the best size canvas for their space.

This is a 16×24 canvas gallery wrap!

Logan’s 6th Birthday Party! | Decatur, IL Photographer

I have been photographing Jami’s parties since 2012 when she asked me to photograph her Fall Fiesta.  From the minute I met the Hallam’s they have treated me like an old friend.  Since then I’ve photographed Logan’s 3rd, 4th, 5th, and now 6th birthday party.  I look forward to it every year!  Jami is the owner of A Birth Story in Photography and is an amazing photographer, check her out here!  I’m so honored that she trusts me to capture her memories.

Mother’s Day Giveaway | Decatur, IL Family Photographer

This Mother’s Day I wanted to do something special for a mom so I decided to hold my first ever Mother’s Day Giveaway!  I loved meeting this beautiful mother Lindsey and her very handsome two year old Phoenix.  These moments are fleeting and I’m so happy I was able to capture all this sweetness for her to hold on to forever.

“Motherhood….is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you’re not sure what the right thing is….and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong.” – Donna Ball

Being a mother….my greatest, hardest, most beautiful gift…..one I’ll never take for granted.
